college as told by gifs

CollegeChloe GordonComment

I'm currently procrastinating doing my math homework and thought it would be fun to create a little recap on my college experience so far  because I’m an amazing person and a kind soul.
I'm telling my story through GIFs (and yes, it is pronounced like Jiff the peanut butter) because nothing does a better job of describing an event more clearly.
You're welcome.

Shopping for dorm stuff:

Meeting your roommate:

First day of classes:

First feeling of homesickness:

First party:

going to the gym after your first party:

when someone in one of your classes reminds the teacher to collect an assignment:

Eating healthy in the dining hall:

First exam:

So there you have it. My college experience so far as told by GIFs. Please leave a comment telling me how relatable and funny this post is so I don’t feel badly for writing this post instead of working on my math homework.

love you long time,

gift guide : on a college student budget

RANDOM STUFF, CollegeChloe GordonComment

When I was in high school I never believed the whole “college budget” thing. The thing was, I didn’t understand college finances. I mean, there’s a Starbucks five minutes walking from my dorm. There’s a huge fancy mall just a short bus ride away. And don’t even get me started on all of the delicious restaurants that can be delivered thanks to an on campus delivery service. College life is easy, but I’m spending way more money than I ever expected. Next year I’m sure to be a broke college student.

However, with the holidays coming up, it’s time to buy gifts for all of my friends. I have always been the kind of person that is obsessed with gift giving. I love brainstorming what to give who and then finding that perfect item. It’s somewhat of a scavenger hunt with such a rewarding ending. I’ve compiled a list of gifts that I want to get my friends and they all happen to be under $25 which is awesome.

Let me know in the comments below what you’re giving and/or what’s on your list! I’d love to know!

Feeling Fall

Chloe Gordon9 Comments

It’s that time of year again: family, friends, giving thanks, sharing. Our family traditions haven’t changed much over the years, which I guess is the definition of tradition! But the one thing that has changed for me is my allergies. I don’t ever remember having them when I was younger, but they sure have made up for lost time and like reminding me how difficult life can be whenever I’m around greenery, and prepping the house for guests. Yes, allergies have a way of intruding even on the best of times. But, I’ve found the solution in Flonase® Allergy Relief.

Flonase allergy -holiday

Every year, we travel back home to Alabama to celebrate the holidays. The women take over and make everything “just so” around the house and in the dining room. And every year, my allergies go crazy with dogs, decorations, and the typical change in season whenever I travel from one climate to another.

This year, I’m not only excited about seeing family and decorating, but also preparing for the guests who will be coming for dinner. We love a natural holiday table, full of greenery and leaves and natural settings. My favorite task is to find the perfect setting from outdoors, and typically, I’m a watery-eyed mess before we are done scouting (and not from just laughing too hard or reliving the silly things we did when we were kids). But this year, I’m prepared! I won’t be traveling without my Flonase for the relief I need to be a in a different setting, and a bright-eyed, chipper aide.

In one of my classes, we’ve been watching a movie called Searching for Sugar Man.  It’s a documentary about an underground — presumably dead — musician who lived his life not knowing that a bootleg copy of his music went viral in South Africa after someone brought it back from America. It’s a super great movie and I totally recommend it, but the reason I’m bringing it up isn’t to talk about the movie, but to talk about the lyrics within Sugar Man’s songs.

I’m not really a music person. I love listening to music, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t know a lot of artists or song names, I just kind of listen to what I like when I’m feeling it, if that makes any sense at all. However, when I heard Rodriguez’s music I was infatuated. They’re just so poetic and perfect, and despite the fact of not being able to think of another adjective that starts with a P, I totally recommend you check out his stuff! Especially the songs “Sugar Man” and “I Wonder.”

Speaking of poetic and perfect things, can we take a moment to appreciate Free People clothes as of lately. They are seriously too perfect I can’t get over it — I mean check out how cool these leggings are. They’re the kind of clothes that you can throw on when you’re not feeling your prettiest and then feel transformed into a chic Pinterest person. So do yourself a favor and check out their newest stuff, you won't regret it.

Oh and one more perfect thing? Marshall, the amazing person behind these pictures! He’s seriously so talented, and I feel lucky to have been able to shoot with him. Check out his Instagram if you're in need of some photographic inspiration, another thing you for sure won’t regret.

let the little things excite you

Chloe Gordon1 Comment

Ever since starting college, I’ve realized how much I love the sky. From gorgeous sunsets, to big orange moons, to the grey, blue, and white hues. I know this is somewhat of a nerdy — and maybe off-topic — thing to talk about. But the sky is cool. It really is. It’s kind of this ever changing, yet constant, work of art that I just can’t seem to get over.

Occasionally, actually every time I’m walking to or from dinner I freak out over the sunset. If it’s especially great I really, really freak out. My friends usually make fun of me for these over-excited moments, but I can’t hold back my infatuation with the sky. I just think it’s important to take a moment or two or three to appreciate the unappreciated. Sure, the sun always sets, but tonight’s sunset is so different from last night’s or tomorrow’s sunset.

Whatever makes you excited or happy or overwhelmed in the best way possible, cherish it. Whether it’s the sky, the stars, the leaves changing color, or whatever, just appreciate your appreciation.

Let the little things excite you.

cheap but cute but cheap

Chloe Gordon1 Comment

The worst part about being a blogger is the fact that you’re constantly reading other blogs.

Ok, reading other blogs isn’t the issue, it’s the content within these blogs. Everything is always so cute and perfect and I am always wanting new things. That being said, I was perusing Caroline’s blog from Citrus and Style and discovered a pair of booties from Forever 21 and I knew the second I saw the price tag that I needed to purchase them. So I did. And then I also bought a sweater, because in my mind, getting free shipping by spending more money seemed cheaper and more reasonable than just buying the booties and paying the shipping costs.

These are the booties that I bought and now I’m going to go sit in the campus post office until they arrive.

Do you know of any cheap but cute but cheap things out there that I should buy?
