TAILGATE TEE DIY

College, DIY, FASHIONChloe GordonComment

It’s football season and you know what that means... TAILGATE SEASON!

I’m going to be so real with you, I’m not a big football person. I would apologize, but I’m really not sorry for not enjoying watching a sport that has more downtime than actual playtime. I’m not trynna knock the sport that keeps America united, but like, I think I’m more of a soccer fan than a football fan. It’s a personal preference, ok?

But just because I’m not a huge football fan doesn’t mean I don’t love a good tailgate. Soaking up the fall sunshine, enjoying good company, and forgetting about all homework and responsibilities? Um yes, count me in.

My friends and I hit up the school bookstore this past week for some new spirit wear and decided to DIY some tees. I came home to one of my friends crafting it up in our front yard and I couldn’t help but snap some pictures so I could share her masterpiece with you all. It turned out so well and she got so many compliments throughout the day! Not to mention it was super simple to execute. Totally worth a try if you're a tailgate-er.

DIRECTIONS:
Basically she bought an XXL shirt, cut the bottom off to make it a “normal” length, used a bottle to sprinkle some bleach on the shirt, and cut a triangle out of the top to make the collar of the shirt look like a choker. SO EASY (even I could do it).

Here are some pictures to better help explain, but if you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments!

What is Art?

FASHIONChloe GordonComment

I’m taking a photography class this semester and it’s definitely one of my top favorite classes…ever. Today we were talking about what makes a photograph “art,” and my professor was talking about how he doesn't consider a lot of portraits to be art. I then started to think about what makes art “art.” Is it what you personally consider to be beautiful? Is it when a photograph follows all the so called “rules?” Is it when a picture is clear and not blurry?

But you know what’s awesome about art? The fact that it’s undefinable and such an individual thing. I love that one thing could be considered art to me, but if you looked at it, you might think it was absolutely 100% ugly. Or vice versa. Or maybe I think something is ugly and still consider it to be art, because I can do that. I can do whatever I want, and you can do whatever you want. That’s how life works, and that’s awesome.

I went up to the mountains last week with my best friend (and roommate and snuggle buddy) and we took some photos for my photography class. I thought the pictures turned out really well (maybe even well enough to consider them “art”) so I thought I’d share them here.

Hope you’re all doing well. Find some art, create some art, be artful.

Camo Magic

FASHIONChloe GordonComment

The other day I was shopping around Boulder with my mom and brother. We popped into this cute little outdoorsy store and the woman working was wearing the cutest outfit.

We’re talking a perfectly fitted white tee, a black baseball cap, camo pants, and some tan sandals. She was literally the epitome of casual chic. Effortless style. I asked her where she got her pants from (because she was totally rocking them) and she said from the boy’s section of Old Navy. They fit her so perfectly that I was shocked that they were from the boy’s section.

There was something about the camouflage that made me want to try it out for myself. I decided to pull the trigger (heh, get it?) and purchase a camo hat from Urban Outfitters.

I wore it with a little black tee shirt dress to a party the other night and got endless compliments. It was weird. I think there’s something about wearing camo that makes people feel invincible and confident. I don’t know what it is but we’ll call it camo magic.

What trends are you loving lately?

iPod Memories

FASHION, EXTRAS, RANDOM STUFFChloe GordonComment

I’ve always been a saver. I don’t like buying things that cost a lot of money, but I do like to think I’m the kind of person that will impulse purchase something over $100. It’s just not me. I can’t do it. However, when I was in the third grade, the original iPod Movie came out. It was a huge deal, I mean you could listen to music, store photos, and watch movies and tv all on one device. A REVOLUTIONARY PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY.

I had been saving up for forever to buy an Apple product, because I thought they were just the coolest things. They were, but like I said, I don’t spend my money I just like to talk about what I theoretically would buy. But after talking about buying an iPod for the longest time, my mom finally drove me to Best Buy so I could purchase my very own iPod. After looking at the price tags I was about to back out, but then my mom reminded me how hard I had worked just so I could buy one. She was right, I really did want one, and YOLO, you know?

So I bought it. I splurged. I did it.

It has been years since I’ve used the trusty old iPod Movie. I mean, I upgraded to an iPhone which is, seemingly, so much better. It has everything that my iPod has plus texting, calling, FaceTime, and apps galore. But when I got home from college I was going through all my old things (nostalgia, you know) and I came across the ole trust iPod. It still works and has some bumpin’ beats. The best part though? The pictures. I started to scroll through all the pictures that I had on there and four hours later I realized how fast time goes by.

I found pictures from middle school field trips that feel like they were last month.
I found pictures from when my family went on vacation in elementary school.
I found pictures of me creating my first blog which feels like yesterday but was actually eight years ago.

Time flies. It’s cliche to say, I realize that, but I feel it now. I have three years left of “mooching” off my parents and that freaks me out. If I get married at a “normal” age (because right now that seems so far away and like it’s never going to happen) I have less time of being a single girl than I do of starting the whole family thing. I’m not a kid anymore, and even though I still feel 14, I have to realize that time is going quickly.

Sure the days and weeks pass slowly, but I finished my Freshman year of college in a blink of an eye. I want to make sure I treasure every single moment, because soon, I’m going to be looking at pictures of me now wondering why I didn't go do everything possible while I had the time and the freedom.

Sure I was broke after I punched my iPod in third grade, but you know what? I still have that iPod and it’s still impacting me. That’s what big purchase items are for, memories. You done good third grade self.

summer, heck ya!

FASHIONChloe GordonComment

Heck ya! Summer is finally here and it’s so hot that I’ve already been through one tube of deodorant. That’s probably too much information to put on the world wide web (sorry future employers), but I’m all about being real.

Speaking of being real, summer is about to be real(ly) fun. I just found out I got a job as a counselor at a little day camp near my house. It’s going to be awesome because all the other counselors are college aged as well. Heck ya for making friends, am I right?

But as fun as this summer is going to be — we’re talkin’ no group projects, no homework, no homesickness — it’s going to be a weird one too. I’m going to miss walking to my friend’s dorm rooms in the wee hours of the night just to have dance parties, or snack parties, or to get ready for frat parties. I’m going to miss randomly seeing my friends while walking around campus. I’m going to miss the dining hall (omg, I know, I said it). I’m going to miss not having to take my trash out if I don’t want to. I’m going to miss the college life.

This summer definitely feels different than any other before.

It’s weird.

It’s not bad, it’s just different.

I’ll be sure to share stories throughout the summer, little check-ins about how I’m doing.
I’m also planning on posting a lot more often so be ready for PopCosmo to be back in full force, it’s about time ;)

Summer Uniform

FASHION, SHOPKim & ChloeComment

Winter is all about black, black and more black. But summer is when I whip out the white. And this summer is no exception, especially with the modern shapes and crisp perfection of the latest white blouses for inspiration. From a simple white tee to a complicated structured blouse, I'm ready for summer.

I'd love this cotton blouse by C/Meo with a nice peekaboo in back, a soft Vince top that bares your shoulders, this Tibi one that has more structure, or this ruffle crop by Madewell. But I might just have to get one with bell sleeves by Topshop similar to the photo on left. Which one is your favorite?
