When I think button down, I think buttoned-up and Chloe thinks "school uniform." But every closet needs a basic white button down, especially for this spring. White button downs with the hems peeking out seem to be de rigeur for spring as a layering piece under blazers, sweaters, and crop tops, and also look fresh under dresses and short sleeves. I recently wore one to a party under a bustier, which I'll be showing you soon. I'm happy to say, a wardrobe refresh might be just as simple as throwing a white button down on under it!
I bought this one from Banana Republic because it was 1/2 off, has stretch, is no-iron, and has a gorgeous sheen. Plus, with the seaming and tailoring, the fit was amazingly perfect for my curves and I'll be the very first to admit that I have an extremely hard time finding button downs that hug without a peep show. Ann Taylor has a very similar one and if you sign up for their emails, you can pretty much score a discount on something every day. And of course, Everlane has an amazing range of button downs in every fabric from poplin to cotton to silk. You might want to check out these 2 fab shirts, from Theory and Current/Elliott which have a bit more updated feel.
